The Environmentalism Committee works within HJC and in partnership with the Jewish community and the interfaith community of Huntington to promote environmentally friendly policies and practices. We meet regularly. Some of our accomplishments thus far include:
• Planting a native species garden at HJC,
• Implementing cardboard recycling at HJC,
• Implementing a policy to stop the use of disposable plastics at HJC,
• Studying the impact of our waste stream on the environment and on Long Island’s communities of color, and
• Working in partnership with local partners to implement practices that lower the carbon footprint of our waste disposal
