Sisterhood

The Huntington Jewish Center Sisterhood is an affiliate of The Women’s League for Conservative Judaism whose mission is to unite synagogue women’s groups and their members and to support them in understanding and perpetuating Conservative/Masorti Judaism in the home, synagogue and community. The HJC Sisterhood is a vital arm of our synagogue and promotes the welfare of the congregation by supporting the Religious School, Early Childhood Center and Youth Group, and offering many educational and community service activities. Programs include Book Discussions, Paid-up Membership Dinners, and a “Taste of Passover”. Activities include Fall and Spring Rummage Sales, sending Purim Baskets to congregants and a local Nursing Home, Hamentashen Sales, preparing Kiddushes for Simchot, High Holiday Baby Sitting, Polishing Torah Silver, and sending Holiday packages to our college students in order to keep them connected to our community. The HJC Sisterhood is multigenerational and provides opportunities to develop leadership skills and form friendships with other Jewish women.

Sisterhood has published a third Cookbook, Our Culinary Legacy, Timeless recipes from the kitchens of the Huntington Jewish Center Community. Our mission was to preserve the rich Jewish culinary legacy provided by our earlier generations while embracing the new twists and contemporary thinking that define today’s eating. The Sisterhood Gift shop is your convenient source for all your ritual needs including: Tallitot, Kippot, Kiddush cups, Shabbat candles, Mezzuzot and kosher scrolls.  The gift shop also carries beautiful gifts for weddings, new babies, B’nai Mitzvah and all holidays. Please take the time to browse our cabinets. Our items are sold at below market cost, no tax, and all profits go right back to supporting the Sisterhood of HJC!
